highlighting words in TOEFL iBT Exam

highlighting words in TOEFL iBT Exam

I am taking the TOEFL iBT and wondering if I could 'highlight' the
words on the screen in the real test -- by using with mouth or so.

Thank you very much.

TOEFL exam highlighting words

Dear student,
It is not possible to highlight words on the screen during the TOEFL exam because it would’ve given you the option to easily copy and paste text or even translate words and sentences. So, the interface does not allow you to mark anything with the mouse or with the keyboard. We suggest that students put their effort mostly in improving their TOEFL skills and thus improve the result instead of thinking how to crash the system.

Toefl highlighting

This is a very dismissive answer to a legitimate question. As an American English teacher living in Europe, I train students for several types of exams, most notably, the Cambridge Certificates. In all of the Cambridge interfaces and many private English exams, one can highlight the text without a copy function. It allows the students to organize their thoughts as they are reading anid is not way "crashing the system". I always have to warn my students that the TOEFL does not have this capability so that they can modify their exam strategies and focus more on note taking.

crushing the system?

this question was pretty normal. On LSAT you can hughlight the text to focus just on important stuff. Good to know that it is not possible with toefl
